Calling all budding astronauts and aerospace engineers! Rocket Camp is an exciting new addition to Aspen Science Center’s summer programming! Geared toward middle-school students, the camp will start with the fundamentals of Newton’s laws of gravity and motion, and expand from there to explore different topics in rocketry.
Budding rocketeers will start with air- and water-powered rockets, exploring forces, momentum, inertia, acceleration, action and reaction, and other fundamental concepts. We will then move on to fuel-powered model rockets (similar to Estes rocket kits). Students will explore topics in flight planning, trajectory and telemetry, using computer-driven telemetry units their rockets. More advanced campers will be able to create rockets of their own design and test them in flight. At the end of the program, each camper will get to take home his or her own flight-ready model rocket!
